FX announces adaptation of "Shōgun" novel into a limited series.
The series will be an epic saga set in Feudal Japan, told from multiple points of view.
Tim Van Patten was initially set to produce, but there have been changes.
"Shōgun" will be available on FX, Hulu, Star+, and Disney+ in early February.
The series is based on James Clavell's 1975 novel and is set before the Battle of Sekigahara.
The protagonist, Lord Yoshii Toranaga, fights for his life against enemies on the Council of Regents.
A mysterious European ship and its English pilot, John Blackthorne, bring secrets that could tip the scales of power.
The fate of Toranaga and Blackthorne becomes tied to their translator, Toda Mariko.
The story is loosely based on the real exploits of English navigator William Adams.
